Learning Philosophy

Online Learning Australia is serious about creating successful learning experiences for the organisations with which we partner.

Our focus is creating learning solutions that ‘fit’, rather than pigeon-holing solutions into an inappropriate box. So while we understand that online delivery is an important addition to the educator’s toolbox, we also know that a broad range of mediums can serve learners best. As a result our solutions are often blended, combining the best of instructor-led approaches and traditional media, with effective online learning.

Our learning designs are informed by contemporary learning theory and are interactive, contextualised and responsive to diverse learning styles. We believe in immersing learners in relevant authentic activities that are designed to motivate, engage, and produce quantifiable change.

The goal of many learning programs is to enable staff to develop the judgment to make the right decisions at the right time. We often make use of case studies and scenarios to encourage learners to make the types of decisions they will be called upon to make in the workplace.

In our online work we tend to be quite sceptical of what we call ‘gratuitous animation’ – essentially distracting graphic eye-candy - that while interesting, doesn’t necessarily always help support the learning outcomes. But we’re the first to champion the development of simulation or game-based learning if we believe it will help achieve more successful learning outcomes.

We encourage you to browse the Showcase or the Learning Lab to get a better sense for our development capability.

The best way for you to understand our approach to learning is to experience our approach to learning. The Learning Lab above shows information revealed through a series of interactive activities that engage the learner and follow adult learning principles.
